Myntra founder Mukesh Bansal to Quit Flipkart
Posted On: 15-02-2016 00:00:00 16

Mukesh Bansal, the head of Flipkart's commerce platform will leave Flipkart by end of March. Bansal had earlier founded Myntra, India's leading online fashion retailer, which was acquired by Flipkart in 2014 for $370 million. Bansal was retained as Chairman Myntra post the merger with Flipkart and given additional charge as Head of the Commerce Platform. The departures came a month after a management restructuring at the company that saw co-founder Binny Bansal, former chief operating officer, become chief executive. During the rejig, Mukesh Bansal was given additional responsibility of the ads business.

An IIT Kanpur alumni (1993-97) Bansal started his career as Systems Analyst at Deloitte Consulting. He moved from there in July 2000 to Ewanted.com as Sr. Software Engineer and then in July 2001 to Centrata as Sr. Product Manager. In January 2005 he moved to New Scale as Director, Product Management and in February 2007, 10 years after graduating, he launched Myntra.com as Founder & CEO.

Bansal is expected to take a break once he leaves flipkart to spend time with family and enjoy some leisure.
