Amazon India has invested in seven new warehouses, aggressively expanding its supply chain network in its fastest-growing market. The company, which now has 20 warehouses, has opened the new centers in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai. The US-based e-commerce firm has also been launching services such as same-day delivery and next-day delivery, and the new fulfilment centers will help the company offer these services to more customers. The new warehouse will allow Amazon to cut delivery time further and spend less for delivering products.
Amazon launched its India marketplace, Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd, in June 2013 and has quickly expanded its product selection to become the biggest rival to the two large local sites Flipkart Ltd and Snapdeal (Jasper Infotech Pvt Ltd).
