Sharad Walia joins VF Brands as Brand Head Lee (India)
Posted On: 14-09-2015 03:29:46 AM

Sharad Walia, the erstwhile Brand Head Parx, at Raymond has taken charge at Brand head Lee at VF Brands with effect from July 2015.

A NIFT (Delhi) Alumnus from 2000, Walia started his career as a merchandiser with the Ebony chain of stores in Delhi. After a 2 year stint at Ebony, Walia moved to Satya Paul as Retail manager in 2004 and a year later to Color Plus as Regional Manager North. Color Plus at this point was an Ambattur Clothing brand based out of Chennai and headed by Mr. Kailash Bhatia. After 3 years as Regional Manager, Walia moved to Chennai as National Sales Manager for the brand which post he held for 2 years before moving to take charge of both sales and product as GM Sales and Merchandising. By this time the brand had been acquired by the Raymond Group and 2 years later Walia made a shift between group companies moving to Mumbai as Head Sales and Marketing, Raymond Premium Apparel. In March 2013, Walia took charge as Brand Head – Parx at Raymond.

Speaking to Retail Angle Walia shared his views on the men’s wear industry and his reasons for moving. “Casual clothing as a whole has steadily been gaining traction across all brands - in Raymond too where I had productive stints at Color Plus and Parx. However denim as a category is not only a top grosser of growth independently but also an integral part of a casual wear portfolio. While I have managed casual wear brands before, I am excited by the challenge of managing an iconic 125 year old brand – Lee – which is being driven by the young Indias’ appetite for denim, and Lee's stupendous heritage.”
