Gaurav Mahajan appointed as COO Landmark
Posted On: 28-06-2014 02:10:14 AM

Gaurav Mahajan, the COO at Westside has recently been appointed as COO Landmark & Head - International Expansion-Westside.

Gaurav, a Trent 'lifer', has been with the Westside business since its inception and has been instrumental in shaping its success over the years, bringing it to 80 stores over 42 cities. In 2008 he was nominated by the Tatas for a executive education stint at Harvard Business School and was appointed the COO immediately after that.

Landmark - a popular books & music chain set up in 1987 was bought by Trent in 2005. While it rapidly expanded in the years that followed, the last few years have seen the chain contract and consolidate in the face of the e-tail onslaught. It now runs 13 stores and also has online presence through landmarkonthenet.com with the product portfolio now dominated by Toys and Stationery.

Gaurav's move to Landmark is being seen as an intent by Trent to re-energise the business with a new identity and expansion into more categories, geographies and also the e-commerce space.

Seperately Gaurav has also been entrusted with the task of expanding the Westside chain beyond India. It is expected that the foray will be aimed at Middle East and South Asia to begin with.

Earlier another Westside manager, Himanshu Chakrawarti, Marketing Manager at Westside had moved to the Landmark chain as COO.

Himanshu is now CEO at the Mobile Store.
