Biba appoints Rajesh Jain as Business Head-Rangriti

Rajesh Jain has recently joined Biba as Business Head of their new brand Rangriti. Rangriti, a women's ethnic wear brand is targeted at the mass market and is being sold through distributors around the country as against the company's premium ethnic wear brand Biba which sells through EBO's and shop-in-shops at all the leading department stores. Prior to joining Biba, Rajesh successfully ran his own company - Miraaya. The Miraaya brand of women's ethnic wear was available on all leading online sites and sold through more than 20 EBO's across the country. At Biba, Rajesh is expected to replicate the success of Miraaya.

A quick look at Rajesh's career in the industry shows him to be a design graduate who joined GTN textiles at Hyderabad in April 1998. He moved to Mumbai to join Pantaloons as Manager - Product Development and Marketing in April 2001. Two years later he moved to Delhi as CEO with Ritu Kumar. Two years with Ritu Kumar and he moved to Bangalore to join Lifestyle International ( Max Retail Division) as Head Buying and Merchandising. Then in Dec 2006, Rajesh moved back to Delhi to join Genesis Colors as COO. In 2008 he moved to set up his own business, starting with consulting and then moving on to launching his own brand.

Speaking to Retail Angle on the move to Biba, Rajesh shared that "The mass market for women's ethnic wear is booming. I have seen the opportunity for years - that is how Miraaya came about. Now with Rangriti, I hope to create an enduring brand that will be the leader in its segment, just as Biba has been".
