Star Bazaar, operated by Tata Groupís Trent Hypermarket is going to focus on promoting its private labels, which includes its ethnic wear collection.
This private label collection is currently available at Westside stores, and is likely to be launched in a few months in Pune and Bangalore. In keeping with the strategy around private labels, the costing will be 20-25% cheaper than the other brands.
Franchise partner Tesco too has launched a range of products in the food and grocery segment under its private label, and plans to extend it to general merchandise. These products are being sold at Star Bazaar stores, as well as in the gourmet section of Westside.
The Company is also planning of offering 20% discount in the festive season, in categories such as gifting, health and beauty, select consumer durables and kids wear.
Star Bazaar is targetting to open more stores in Pune and Bangalore over the next few months. The new stores are going to be smaller format, in comparison with the current 30,000 and 45,000 sqft stores.
