8.3 PERFORMANCE REPORTS

The following are examples of the main performance ‘reports’ a retailer is likely to need regardless of whether this information is actually printed out or is viewed on screen. You will note that some reports are no more than a ‘drill down’ to a different level of detail from another report.

The contents of each report is indicative and the performance measures you will have available will depend on the capabilities of system and database. In all cases you need to be able to compare actual performance of all key metrics to Plan, Last Year if comparative data is available, and Forecast, either using a variance or the absolute values, as well as to review the Sales, Stock and Margin participation.

DEPARTMENTAL TRADING REPORT Shows total departmental performance by product group for a week or other time dimension Total Sales Value & Units; Sales Value by Outlet Type, Margin on Sales Value & %; Promotional Cost and Discounts %; Total, Outlet and DC Closing Stock Value & Units; Total Closing Stock at Cost; Total Outlet and DC Weeks Cover; Intake Value & Units; Commitment Value & Units
DEPARTMENTAL IDENTITY REPORT Shows departmental performance by product group by product identity (Spring Summer, Autumn Winter, Flow, Discontinued) As departmental trading report
DEPARTMENTAL STATUS REPORT Shows departmental performance by product group by product status (Full Price, Promotional, Clearance, Discontinued) As departmental trading report
SEASON SUMMARY REPORT Shows the achieved to date, balance to achieve and full half forecast for a specific merchandise half or year, merchandise season, or financial half or year by department by product group Total Sales Value; Margin on Sales Value; Markdown, Promotional Cost and Discounts Value
TERMINAL STOCK REPORT Shows the terminal stock position by department by product group at the end of a specific week Current Total Closing Stock Value, Forecast Intake, Forecast Adjustments, Forecast Closing Stock
OUTLET TRADING REPORT Shows total outlet performance by within region for the week or other time dimension Total Sales Value & Units; Margin on Sales Value & %; Promotional Cost and Discounts %; Outlet Closing Stock Value & Units; Total Outlet Weeks Cover
LINE PERFORMANCE REPORT Shows option performance by product for a specific department for a week or other time dimension Total Sales Value & Units; Margin on Sales Value & %; Total, Outlet and DC Closing Stock Value & Units; Total Outlet and DC Weeks Cover; Rate of Sale; Weeks on Sale to Date; Weeks on Sale Remaining; Number of Outlets Intake Value and Units; Commitment Value & Units
